A topdown game produced for UAlberta's Winter 23 CMPUT 250 course. Willow by High Impact Studios.
You rise to consciousness, the pounding in your head prying open your bleary eyes. What time is it? Why are you in the bathroom? And…
What happened last night?
You stumble out of the bathtub and onto unsteady feet. You’re drowsy, confused, desperately in need of some painkillers—and your girlfriend is nowhere to be found. All that’s left for you are cold, empty sheets and memories to puzzle together without her eager help. You’ve got no choice but to move deeper into this house. Th-this house that… isn’t quite home.
“Willow, where the hell are you?”
This is Willow, a narrative-driven puzzle game. You play as Olivia, a hungover amnesiac searching through her memories and the echo of her home in hopes of finding her missing girlfriend.
Please note that Willow contains sensitive material not suitable for all audiences:
- Alcohol abuse
- Fatal car collision
- Loss of a loved one (and survivor’s guilt)
And includes visual effects that may trigger epilepsy. Please disable these features in the settings if desired. Drink responsibly and drive safely; viewer’s discretion is advised.
Willow was developed by students in the University of Alberta as part of the Winter 2023 CMPUT 250 course. All of the magic came together in RPG Maker MV, but this magic didn’t happen at the wave of a wand (we wish). Meet the team who made Willow what it is:
- Stacy Ma, Executive Producer
- Sehbazz Virk, Producer and Programmer
- Ashley Biddiscombe, Lead Designer and Audio Artist
- August Millan, Writer and Visual Artist
- Bao Nguyen, Visual Artist
